Animal Clinic, Pet Vaccinations, & Wellness Exams in Halifax, Massachusetts

At Halifax Veterinary Service, we care about you and your pet and strive to provide you with the most comprehensive wellness exams possible. Call our animal clinic to schedule an appointment today.

Wellness Exams

Ensure that your four-legged friend is happy and healthy by bringing them in for an annual wellness exam.  Most vaccinations are required every year, however, there are exceptions. Please call us for details. Exams last between 15 to 20 minutes. We perform a comprehensive physical, make sure vaccinations are current, and make recommendations for flea, tick, and heartworm control. If a problem is found at the exam further testing will be recommended.

Routine vaccinations are different for dogs and cats. Dogs are given a Rabies vaccination as well as Lyme, Lepto, and Distemper. If you are boarding your animal, a Kennel Cough vaccination is required. Cats receive Rabies, Distemper, and Leukemia vaccinations.

Diagnostic

Halifax Veterinary Service features a full-service in-house laboratory with the equipment necessary to run a whole array of tests, including CBC, Chemistry, Lyme, and Heartworm testing. With our in-house laboratory, we are able to get rapid results.

Heartworm and Lyme disease testing helps to see if a dog was bitten by a tick or another insect. Using a snap test in our in-house laboratory, we'll have the results in just five minutes! We also utilize digital x-ray and ultrasound services.

Surgery

We perform a variety of soft tissue surgery, including lacerations and wound care. Dental surgeries include routine cleaning and extractions. Routine surgery patients are done as day surgeries. For most surgeries we recommend dropping your pet off by 8 am. Once the surgery is complete, we will give you a follow up call and animals can go home 2 to 4 hours later.  All releases come with a complete discharge sheet.

Dentistry

Halifax Veterinary Service is proud to offer complete dental care with our top of the line dental equipment. Each patient will have a full set of digital dental x-rays taken to discover issues below the gum line followed by a cleaning to remove the build up of tartar. In some cases, tooth extractions may be necessary. To provide the highest quality of care, digital x-rays are taken before and after each tooth extraction to allow for the most effective results. To get more information or to schedule a dental cleaning, please call our office during normal business hours and someone will be happy to assist you.
